After!

Okay, so there's still a laundry list of things we want to do and we really haven't even started, but I have 5 new trees! I am so excited, it's been on my mind to do for almost 2 years and now the first step is done. In a few weeks we'll be adding two more birch trees and a jackaranda and a California pepper tree.

Way too busy

Wow. I have been going nonstop almost since October with etsy sales and then with the holidays and other random work and family things so my desire to work on the house took over the minute Christmas arrived and since Christmas we've had four trees removed.
Before:
Now:
And on Thursday 5 little birch trees will be planted in this space to provide privacy and some shade for our house and our neighbour's driveway and I will be uploading the photos here.

Today we removed the ugly green carpeting from the livingroom:

And put in some really nice and very affordable cream colored carpet for the living room and since no animals really hang out in here we feel pretty safe in the color choice:

And my cousin Jeff came over and has given us a quote for a shower for our bathroom and a new privacy fence for the backyard which we've been wanting for almost as long as we've been living here. So that will be in the works beginning sometime in the next week. It's amazing how much has been accomplished in such a short amount of time and I can't wait to upload the 'after' pics of everything.

December again

Wow. I know it's cliche to say, but wow. 2009 is over. It's amazing how fast it goes sometimes.
For 2009 I have made some great strides in my business on etsy. I have over 350 sales, I have a resell license and I'm still enjoying it. I also did Nano and had a blast this time. In fact I'm working on the book still and really do have plans for people to see it in 2010 and have it finished by my birthday in April.
As for my real job, I'm very happy. I have an amazing boss who is just the best and I look forward to going to work every day - which is a rare thing. And I have the best husband and I'm constantly astounded that we continue to be happy with each other. So that my life, work and hobbies are all positive what changes do I need to do for 2010.
That's an easy one. I have been sedentary for too long. It's great that my two favorite things tax my creativity but my body. Wow. I just saw some recent pics and wow. I have to change. I have been going to the gym more and more but without the two hours that I used to dedicate each day to the gym I have really fallen. So this year will be about becoming fit again. Go back to spinning classes and weight training to get myself to a place where I'm healthier and don't cringe each time I see a photo of myself. And since I don't really believe in waiting I plan to start a new regiment this week. Tonight. Now.

It's been awhile!

Etsy sales have been going crazy for the past few months and I am shocked, especially compared with what I was doing a year ago. In April, when I finished my first year selling my goal was to get to 200 sales by 12/31. Now I'm a month away from the end of year and I have 281 sales. Way more than I had hoped for.
I've also been on the front page 6 times this year so far. I hope to be on it two more times this year with my Christmas Tree earrings. I've also been in two storque articles as well as a gift guide which really means that I'm doing things right.
The weirdest thing happened in November as well I was able to easily write 50,000 words for Nanowrimo this year. Most years I fall short or it's a real struggle to get there. This year I started 9 days late and finished the 50k in 11 days. I still wrote afterwards too and I'm now somewhere in the 52k area and have another 10k to go to finish - which is my goal for December before I start editing it in January to see if it's any good.
There are things, other things that I know I have done, but alas I can't think of a darn thing. Maybe later they will hit.

And now I'm in the etsy gift guide!

Yippee. It's been a couple years now since I really got into etsy and I knew that there was always a possibility that I might make a gift guide and here it is:
I'm very excited and can't wait to see what my stats will be for tomorrow. I've gotten two sales so far today and I'm not sure if they're from the exposure or just luck. Oh well, just happy to be recognized.

Wow Etsy, thank you!

I've been selling on etsy for over a year now and I've been having a blast. Lots of nice people and with having a shop I'm constantly trying to think of new things to fill my shop. I recently started working with faux typewriter keys (I just can't justify using the real things, it would be like killing an elephant just for their tusks) and they've been a hit:

In the past week I've been on the front page of etsy TWICE!!!

Now, for most people the above sentence sounds nice but what does it really mean. It means that out of 600,000 etsy sellers there are only 12 positions on the front page. Most of these treasuries are only on there for a half hour at a time. So a precious few make it onto the front page if ever. There are forum after forum posts with people lamenting that they are never chosen and so for me, and for most any etsy seller being on the front is a huge honor and not something that happens often. In fact here's a chart showing what being on the front does for your views:
So an average day for me without being on the front page gets me around 70 - 100 views, whereas being on the front for a half hour I get between 400 - 600 views! Out of that exposure I've gotten 6 custom orders that I'm working on and I've had some pretty steady sales too!
Not going to quit my day job, cause I love it, but it's fun. For me, etsy is the ultimate video game.

I-WANT-FALL!

Okay Summer, it was fun. We hung out, I got a tan, you kept the pool warm for everyone and it was great, but now it's time for fall. I love fall. I love the crispness in the air, I love not having a fan on all the time or air conditioning. I love sweaters and honey crisp apples. I still feel a little gypped from last year when fall didn't come till 12/2 - oh yes, I remember the day. So this year, please, please leave summer. I know that you are planning on making this weekend tortuous with record heat, but serious. The door's over there. Let me miss you this year.
That is all.

Back to Normal... Almost

So Princess Jenn and her PIT daughter Carly are gone. I had really wanted a pic of the three of us but it turns out that even though we posed, the pic never happened. It sucks but then I just have to fly back to get a pic. I did get a couple of them together:

Carly never did warm up to me or Dan, she sort of looked at us as competition of her mother's time and love. She did love the dogs and the evil cat Duncan who kept swatting at her and got her good a couple times, but like Tina and Ike, she kept going back for the abuse.

Since Jenn arrived a week ago we've had fire after fire and none seem to be slowing or stopping. On Sunday my brother and two of his kids came over for a swim. This was the pic from my backyard:

Probably not the smartest thing to have kids swim but when it's so hot and there' not much else to do and you have two overly active kids that you need to ware out there aren't many free options available.
So on Saturday we had our movie night. Lots of people, lots of food and I think people had fun. Got a lot of compliments so that made me feel good. Unfortunately I started feeling like crap Sat and it took a lot of effort for me to make it through. We ended up having 45 people over. I really need to get a couple long tables to help make serving food easier. We borrowed enough chairs for everyone to be able to sit and enjoy and we're really lucky that we've never had a mosquito problem.

One Hour to Go...

So my best friend, princess is almost about to land. I am so excited. It's been so long and I'm a little nervous. I think I get nervous every time, hoping that she has a wonderful time, that we do things that she likes to do, etc. I'm also stressed out about Sat night. 50+ people at my house. I've never hosted anything more than 30 and not sure what 50+ means. But, I've vowed not to think too much about it till Friday. Friday morning I can make lists and get really stressed out about that many people coming over.
So, I love etsy. Have for a long time, the passion from the beginning is gone and I no longer have a need to check my site every 6 minutes to see if anything has been purchased or if I've gotten a new comment. However, I do love the convos and I got a great one yesterday. Another one of my pillows is being featured:

Pillows are for some reason hard to sell. Not sure why but they are.

So not much else to talk about. Most of the house is clean and ready for Jenn and her daughter and I hope to post pictures soon. Damn Shay-ney-ney is back at the back door crying cause I'm not in the den entertaining her. Puppies are bad.

Not A Hippie

So this weekend is the 40th anniversary of Woodstock. I have no real association with the festival. My parents weren't hippies, and I have NEVER had the desire to wear patchouli and not shower or shave, yet this morning when I woke up, I was inclined to pull up the youtube video of Jimi Hendrix's Star Spangled Banner.
There are 20 seconds I have seen countless times, yet the other 3 minutes, it was the first. Lots of realizations as I watched. Did anyone there even have the smallest inkling that it would be possible for me to pull up a video exactly 40 years to almost the minute to watch it? I had been told countless times that the Sunday morning when Jimi Hendrix came onto the stage and played that it changed everyone. As I watched the crowd's reaction to the moment, there was no overwhelming sense of 'wow, I'm watching history'. If anything it looked like they were more curious as to what the hell was all that racket (this is my interpretation of 500 people who were tired, stoned and in need of a good scrubbing).
I also wondered where everyone who was in the video and in the crowd - where are they? The notorious ones are dead (Jimi, Janice, etc.) but for the people just standing there, what did their lives turn out to be? The guy who has his back almost turned to Jimi - was he a roadie? The ass who bullies everyone and was just taking a break? A lucky bastard who stumbled onto the stage and everyone just let him be? And why not face the audience and watch, why watch what's going on backstage, unless what was happening there was more interesting.
Well these are the ramblings of me with too many thoughts too early in the morning.

Update on Mess

Well the bedrom is almost done. I need to find a new hamper that will match and hang two more prints:

Next. The hallway and entry way!

Not a Fan of the Mess

So we're having new carpet put in. I'm thrilled. We found the receipt for the original carpet that my grandparents put in on 8/2/83. Now almost 26 years later we're putting in brown carpet. However there is a giant downside. Our living room looks like this:

The pragmatic part of me is happy to get rid of old aged carpet I am twitching cause of the mess that surrounds me and I can't wait to restore order back to our house. Even as I type I can only move my chair so much cause our bed frame is currently taking up residence in our spare bedroom.
I just have to remind myself that it will be over soon enough... that is till we remove the carpet in the living room next month...

Is it weird to hold a grudge?

As a sporadic person at best on facebook, I go in once a week or so, throw a couple friend nets out there for people I know and then leave to come back in a week and see who's responded or who's requested. I rarely if ever make a post about my life, cause really, who cares. And what's fun is that I've gotten in touch with people that I've lost along my life.
It's fun to catch up in a sentence or two, sort of like a fun cocktail party where you don't have to find yourself dragged into a boring conversation about children or taxes. You can leave whenever you want, you can be invisible and pop in and out whenever you choose and no one can be mad. The worst that could happen is that you may notice that your friend stats might be down one.
Now the part that I don't like is the friend section. While I have found two people that I wouldn't have found otherwise I really don't like this feature. Too many people that I want nothing to do with keep popping up over and over again. Fortunately the ex hasn't been included in my 'people you may want to reconnect with' file, but others just keep coming up like moles from the game where you wallop with a mallet. There are some things in the past that should stay in the past.
But it seems, for the most part, that my dislike is completely one sided, for I see more and more friends becoming friends with scum. They were scum in high school and I was happy to be away from them. I'm sure they're scum now so why, why accept them when they were repugnant 20 years ago?
Is it because the mature thing to do is to accept them, let them be part of your life and group? Is it that our memories are supposed to fade and the pain and hardships that we encountered when we were young are supposed to transform into nostalgic thoughts? Why is it that I feel a little guilty for ignoring someone that I haven't thought of in 20 years?

At War in my Own Home

It's been going on now for a couple years, ever since 06 when we moved in. Everywhere I look there are memories of childhood and my grandparents and they are fighting to stay relevant. As we move in more and more and buy furniture, paint, etc my childhood and my grandparents past vanishes. I don't want it to go, but at the same time I can't stand looking at carpeting that is almost as old as I am or watch the rodademdrum slowly die (I think it gave up the ghost when grandma moved to Royal Oaks).
I hate going slowly, but then I also hate wasting money. So my current goal is to do the things that have been festering and bothering me for awhile. On Thursday I'm going to go with my mom to have the chairs that were my grandparents reupholstered to match the sofas and reading chair that are already in the living room. It was one of the first items I had on my to-do list and besides removing the carpeting in there, it will finish the living room, well almost. There are two major items still in the living room that hinder it, and perpetually keep the space in the 1950's. The first is the mirror that's in there.
It's... well, unique. Straight out of 1945 and gold.
The second is a picture that I always liked growing up and exactly a year ago today and the last time I saw her, my grandma gave it back to me to put up where it hung for almost 50 years. The sentimental part of me can't imaging removing either piece. However, the pragmatic part really wants to let them go to make way for more stylish things. It's the merging of the old and past that I really want to see happen.

An Etsy babyshower

For almost two years I've been addicted to etsy.com and the amazing amount of one of a kind items and the personal touches that artist and crafters make. I myself upped the level of obsession 14 months ago by becoming a seller as well as a buyer and it has really let my creative side take over.
So today there was a baby shower at work and of course I went to etsy to help me out. I wanted to get my friend Bevin some unique items and a couple of laughs and succeeded on both counts. First she opened these little guys, which no one had ever heard of, but everyone enjoyed when she told them what they were. But then she opened this and tears were streaming down most of the people in the room. Several have requested photos of the baby wearing the onesie.
So as more and more events where gifts are needed, I go to etsy. I am positive that what I find at etsy will be more unique and special than almost anything commercially made.
So there is my two paragraph ad for my favorite site.

So the weekend will be here in 45 minutes. I don't know what our plans are. I know we had some but now I can't remember them. It's a little sad. Tomorrow I hope to go to a carpet shop or two to get quotes on installation of carpeting for the den and possibly two bedrooms. I'm still not sure what I want to do in the livingroom. I may ask my cousin Peggy to help me out with picking colors and deciding what to do.
I also want to start working on getting the front yard taken care of. I NEED trees planted. I can't stand the yard now and hate pulling up everyday to just see grass and no personality whatsoever.
So that's enough babble for now. I know people say this all the time, but I can't beleive how quickly this year is going. It seems faster and faster and as much as I'd like to put the brakes on things I just as much can't wait for October to arrive so we can spend our 4th anniversay at The Del.

First Day

So I've spent most of today in my new seat at work. It's quiet. Very quiet. Minus when Kevin had a meeting the rest of the day I could have been in a library. QUIET.
So, most of my crap is over here and I'm trying to get used to the glare from the windows behind me.
It's a nice big space and there's lots of room for me, too much actually. The title I guess merits the space.
What is nice is that no one can see what I'm working on. I haven't played with any sensitive files yet, but just the benefit of being secure that no one is able to come from behind and see my bank accounts, or what my shop on etsy is doing, or anything else like that. I can see people coming an casually close up whatever tabs I feel like. Ah, the freedom.
So... we started spending some inheritance. Not much, cause once it's gone, it's gone. I did buy a sofa this weekend. Can't wait. I also had a dream where I was putting in new kitchen flooring. I had spent most of the dream trying to decide what would be more prudent, starting from one side and going forward, or starting in the middle and having Dan and our handyman work on one side while I tackled the other. Weird that I was so intense on this. However, I really can't wait to get started on making over the kitchen and hope to start very soon. I think it will take a weekend to get the new floor in, then another weekend to do the counters and paint the cabinets and then one last weekend to paint.
I also need to start researching different trees to see if Jacarandas have male and female trees and see what the males do that differ from the females.
Well that's about it. I will take pics soon of my new area - hopefully tomorrow.

Dust settling

So there are still some ramifications at work, even though the original change happened almost two months ago. My boss will be moving into the corner office next week and sometime after that construction on my new site will begin. That does mean that 6 consultants will be moved somewhere and that is still up in the air, so I'm not expecting any work to begin for awhile.

I'm in the public area still which I like being around people makes it difficult at times to view confidential files and work on budget issues so getting my new space where no one can read over my shoulder will be nice. Also if you press your head up to the window you can see the Warner Brothers tower in my new office area, however I really just have a great shot of the car wash across the street.

My pay increase that was supposed to happen 7 weeks ago looks like it finally went through. Very odd to have a title and yet feel a financial pinch as any OT for me is long gone with the beginning of a salary.

So now that I'm not sure what my new role as executive is, I still do parts of my old job, while giving other parts to the new me. So far things seem to be working out well - we'll see.

This is Dan's bday weekend and we're going to the beach either Sunday or Monday. It will be nice - we haven't had time to really just hang out and be together. It's great really liking your spouse and wanting to spend time with them. I don't know if it's just the decade between marriages, but I don't ever remember looking forward to spending time with the other one.

We are debating on taking the dogs with us to get groomed and possibly shaved to prevent hot spots. Eh.

So... I can't think of much else to write about. Still working on book and short story so I have things to do. Oh, I did complete last night my first travel pillow - I'm very proud of it and will be taking new pics this weekend of it (finished it at 1:00am this morning and had to put it up even though I had terrible light). Going to start working on a clock pillow next.

Birthday

So today is my 37th birthday and besides a small trip to Osh (hell) the day and weekend have been perfect. On Friday my co-workers took me out to lunch at El Torito, the same restaurant that I've been taken to for the past 3 years. I get a card signed by everyone, which I love and keep and I'm always thrilled that my co-workers care that much for me.
Friday night Mason and Isabelle took us out to the Atheneum for dinner. Fancy is an understatement. It was wonderful. From there, we walked around the campus a bit, there were memories, but it mostly felt like an old dream to walk around the trees and buildings again.
Saturday continued to be great. Gym to do elliptical and weights. There is now a sixty pound difference between what my right and left leg can do on the glut machine. From there, dogs to park to play then a quick breakfast and then clean. We cleaned. Like moved sofas to vacuum, and detail work. At 5:00ish Chris, Tracy and Lee came over and we all caravaned over to West Hollywood where I had dinner with: Chris, Tracy, Truett, Gerick, Mario, Laura, Bob, Jessica Matt, Heater, Mason, Isabelle, Dan, Amy, Julia, James, Geoffrey, Lee and Dan. From a great dinner, we went over to The Abbey for drinks and ambiance. From there more people splintered off and the rest of us went to Micky's, then a few other bars before calling it a night.
Then today, dog park, nice breakfast with Dan, then bad trip to Osh and now waiting to go see a movie with Dan and then probably one more dinner and then back to a more mundane life.

Somewhere in our 30's, usually before 35, we start to think our youth is slipping, cause it is. So in an attempt to feel young, fresh and desirable we find women who we've known some for years, others we work with and we patch up a new group of women to create 'girl nights' with. Now some can be going out for coffee and bitching about boys, husbands and children. But most are to feel something again that has slipped and that's the freedom and beauty of early 20's that's mixed in with the age and experiences of a decade.
Now in any group there are stereotypes, like the fashionistas, the well advanced, the prematurely old and the crazies.
Now when our core group got started around 5 years ago there were six main women in our group. Michelle was the leader, beautiful redhead, charming and charismatic, Cheyne was the crazy, bisexual who was sultry and a dead look alike to Betty Paige, Beth was calm, large, like me and a little reserved, with a history of continuously dating a felon, Cathie was once fat, lost a lot of weight and was finally feeling like a grown up with a 13 year old son. There was me. Large, fun and sort of in awe that I was included in the group and finally there is Dawn. I have been called pretty, but Dawn was more goddess than human, or so it seemed to me. We would walk down the street and everyone would stop to stare at her. It was weird to be around sometimes cause she would pay attention to me and yet the rest of the room was fixated on her.
So the six of us started hanging out - and here is where I'm going to leave this till I can really spend some time on the story.

After

So... I'm now an executive. This is very bittersweet and the emotional roller coaster that I've been going through the past 48 hours has reduced my sleeping to practically nothing.
While I know little about the details of what happened I can only image the worst case scenario for our CIO to leave. This man is incredible. Funny. Intelligent and a great motivator. Easy to talk with, if not a little intimidating at times, and I am not the only one who is reeling from the sudden change in the hierarchy at work. While honored to be asked to move up I would love for everything to be how it was a month ago.
So... onto other things. I've been obsessed with pillows lately and after a month of making, designing and listing I think I may be petering out. My blue front page guy is still getting a ton of views and hearts but is not getting sold. None of them are. The house pillow, pink and black and red are sitting there not moving and I'm not sure if what I made was just a surge of frantic energy that has sputtered out.
So... things I'm hoping to do this weekend. Gym tomorrow morning - have to go. I was bad last week and didn't go and this week has been odd. Must get back onto a schedule. I say it over and over again and need to stop saying it and just do it.
Well it is almost 2:00am and no where near tired... again. Hope to calm my brain and get a few hours.

Thursday, April 2, 2009

Before...

So, I have a basic idea of what's going on. My CIO, a great, amazing guy, is about to be let go. I don't know why, I don't know what happened. All I know is that in less than an hour everything changes.
Questions that I do have cause I'm a myopic human. I'm assuming that my direct boss will become the new CIO - in some ways that great. However, where do I go? Do I go with him (I hope, I hope, I hope) or will I be officially put as the lower assistant (which would suck beyond all things that suck). What's going to happen with the CIO's assistant? We we co-chair everything - I could live with that.
Right now is the calm before the storm. The notices have gone out. I've played innocent and have no idea what's happening while my hands shake and I go bright red every 5 minutes with this hanging over me.
I don't like this. I wish that everything could be how it was a month ago. With our CIO here and everyone knowing their role.

Yikes! 40 is getting closer and closer

So it dawned on me as I was driving into work today that in less than a month I'll be 37. I remember thinking when I was young that 40 was really old, and now here I am on the precipice and terrified of this number. A number that really doesn't mean much anymore, especially since 40 is not a heartbeat from death. A 2009 forty year old, is the equivalent of a 1809 version of twenty-two. Not a baby but far from being considered aged and decrepit.
I do have a goal for my birthday. Get the damn spare bedroom turned into a craft room. I had wanted to remove the carpet, get the room painted, buy furniture, install cabinets, etc. Now I'm just thinking fuckit, get it done so I can use the living room for what it should be and put my crap away. Just like a year ago, every time I come home I hate what I see when I walk in.
So this weekend I have to find time to buy a twin size sleeper sofa and see about getting a truck to rent so I can grab the furniture from ikea.
Jewelry is selling well and I in turn bought from other esty sellers. I am so grateful that etsy is pure fun money. I would be terrified/destitute if I had to support myself on a hobby.
So things to do. Dan is helping our friend John move back tomorrow so after the gym I'm debating on doing something not fun - gardening or doing something fun - Los Angeles bead district. I don't want to spend too much but I've been itching to go.
Sunday I'm going to be going to Santa Anita race track for a girl craft show - can't wait and I'll upload the link once I remember it. I guess with age the brain does become faulty.
Well must off, for a Friday I seem to be in a myriad of meetings today and I'm late for one right now.

10 years and more

Well last week I had almost finished a moving and sentimental post about being at my job for unofficially 10 years. I went over changes not only within myself and the transformation from unhappily married to very happily married, but the subtle changes that time does to everyone. Of course it was by far my best work EVER, or so I think cause I didn't save it before going into a meeting and somehow lost it all by the time I got back to my desk.
Oh well.
So I am a decade at one job. It's amazing, especially since the thought of being that grounded is kind of scary. I am more than fortunate to work at a place where I love the people I see everyday and I think we all, for the most part, get along very well. There is stress at times and it's not always easy, but there is little finger pointing and I have to say I do have one of the best bosses ever, which makes going to work a joy. So I know that I'm lucky and I am very grateful for my position.
Now onto another fun topic.
I MADE THE FRONT PAGE OF ETSY!!!

Okay, for someone who has no idea of how difficult this really is. It's hard. I've been on etsy for almost 9 months as a seller. I have been on the front page twice. The first was last August for a total of 20 minutes before my item sold. Now I was young and stupid and didn't have my pricing done correctly and someone from Australia got a VERY GOOD DEAL on shipping. Lesson learned. So yesterday I knew that I was in a treasury. I have been fortunate enough to be in 20 I think so I was very happy to be included. Yesterday morning I noticed that it would be expiring later that day but it had gotten a lot of views so I just figured that it would fade away like so many of the ones I've been in. NOPE. Yesterday at 2:00pst there I was on the front.
I was giggly with happiness and started calling first my parents, then friends to share the news. What's true with anything that one person is very involved with and others aren't is the level of excitement over the news. My mom had an idea what a big deal this is (there are approx 80,000 sellers on etsy and only 12 each hour are on the front page) cause of my tone of excitement. Friends who aren't on the site were sort of meh. Jenn was thrilled and linked me instantly on her facebook page and a friend of hers had the best comment, stating that she'd give her right pinkie toe to be on the front page. I don't think I'd be willing to give up an appendage for the front page but the desire to be back on the front does get obsessive, and I think that's what drew me to making the pillow that finally put on the front again.

What I find funny is that 98% of my items are jewelry and the two things that have put me on the front are pillows and blankets. Not complaining at all but it is interesting.
So statistic. Before my pillow had been on the front it had 83 views and 4 hearts. It stayed on the front for the full hour (no one bought it) and in that time, my views shot up and at the end there had been 913 views and 71 hearts for that one item. I had an overall love increase with my shop go from 335 to 355 as well. On average I get maybe a heart or so a day, so being on the front page gave me a 20 day jump in hearts and there is no way that I would have been able to get 913 views in 20 days.
Another fun part was going onto google analytics and seeing the spike from 115 views a day to 1000 views in one day.
Well I have got to go back and start working on yet another pillow since I'm obsessed with being on the front page no less than 5 times this year. A goal that I think I can get.

It has been awhile

I wish I could remember all that has happened. Ummmm, there was Christmas. It was good. Being on etsy, Christmas is more of a commercial product than a relaxing time of year. I survived it, but it wasn't till afterwards that I had any significant time off.
New Years was good. Costume disaster and I look like I just ate a smaller human to fit into it. It's not flattering. I love my friend Isabel but damn, why did she have to upload those pics onto facebook. It should motivate me to go to the gym hourly.
So, we're waiting to hear how much money we'll get from taxes. Dan just found out how much his bonus will be - it's good, but not amazing.
We're nearing the end of the first month of 09 and it does go faster, especially when you let the days slip into each other.
Still not sleeping. I should see a doctor, but I know the answer. The answer is so easy. Go to the gym. That's it. When I was getting a divorce the only way I could calm my brain was to work out my body till I could no longer feel. It was great. I was thinner, sleeping almost through the night and able to function. Not so much now that I'm happy. Need to figure this out.
I'm doing a good deed this year and donating 100 pairs of earrings to an MS charity. The earrings should be done and mailed by Monday along with a bracelet that they are auctioning off. I also have a women's writers luncheon the same day so I need to coordinate.
Besides that, dogs are good, most human friends are good, life is good.
Miss my husband, but then I wanted a social one and not one that stays home every night, so that's what I get for his popularity.
Well off. I'll think of something witty and clever for next time.
