3 and counting

Today is my third wedding anniversary and so far I'd have to say that this marriage is very different from my first. Firstly, I still like this husband. I like hanging out with him, I like talking with him and I really like spending time with him. These things could not be said about my first husband who really was two different people. The one in the morning was actually fun, but the one that I got to pick up and take home every evening was a monster and I'm glad to be rid of.

Another reason why I like Dan much better - no lectures on spending, no lectures on my faults and flaws, no lectures on what aspects of my life and personality are not 'right'. I can never forget or forgive my first wedding anniversary with the first husband, when he lectured me all day on what it means to be a good wife and where my faults were really distracting him from being a good husband to me. I spent my first year wedding anniversary in tears, instead of feeling any kind of love. I remember that evening my parents invited us out to dinner, completely unaware of the six hours I had gone through and I remember my ex insisting we go, not to spend time with my family, but because it was a free meal and then leaving to go see a movie that he wanted to see. He never saw his abuse for what it was.

Well this post took a turn into a life that I'd prefer to never relive and it really isn't what today is about. Today is my 3rd anniversary to a wonderful man who I care so much about and who makes me happy daily.

So, the biggest dilemma that we have today is what do we want to do tonight. See a movie, dinner, hang out with dogs? All options but I can't decide.
